The 2006 Arise Napa Valley Proprietary Red Wine and 2008 Arriviste Napa Valley Rosé were featured at this star-studded event
(NAPA VALLEY, CA; May, 2009) - Two of Blackbird Vineyards' wines were selected to be poured at the highly anticipated 2009 Vanity Fair gala which kicked off the Tribeca Film Festival. Arriviste, a seductive rosé of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, and Arise, an elegant and complex Merlot, were enjoyed by A-list celebrities and tastemakers at the event which was hosted in the State Supreme Courthouse in lower Manhattan on April 21, 2009.
Vanity Fair's annual party at the Tribeca Film Festival draws Hollywood's elite from the film, television, music, and fashion industries, and this year was no exception. Kanye West, Diane von Furstenberg, Bono, Spike Lee, Robert De Niro, Debra Messing, Woody Allen, and Christopher Walken were among the stars in attendance.
This is Blackbird Vineyards' second star-studded Vanity Fair event. The 2007 Vanity Fair Oscar Party held at Morton's, Beverly Hills, featured its 2004 Napa Valley Proprietary Red wine as the exclusive red wine. "Invitations to Vanity Fair events are highly sought-after, and we consider it a distinct privilege that Blackbird Vineyards' wines were poured," said Michael Polenske, proprietor of Blackbird Vineyards.
Founded in 2003 by Michael Polenske, Blackbird Vineyards is an artisanal producer of Pomerol-inspired wines from the Napa Valley. Planted in 1997, the estate vineyard is located in the heart of the Oak Knoll District - a region appreciated for its moderate climate and deep, gravelly soils. The vineyard's valley floor topography presents optimum growing conditions for Winemaker Sarah Gott and Winegrower Aaron Pott to produce elegantly styled, appropriately balanced red wines that offer short- and long-term cellaring potential.
