Right on time.
Well alright, so maybe we are a little late to the “social media” party, but we have been busy. With what you may ask? Well, mostly ensuring that Blackbird Vineyards’ fifth vintage offering—
the 2007 portfolio of wines—is up to the highest standards that our clients have come to appreciate since our first vintage in 2003. In between these five vintages, the winery has experienced positive growth—like all small businesses should. But our growth has not been focused solely on volume of product, but rather a commitment to creating a wine brand that resonates with
our employees (the passion has to start here!), our private client and wholesale customers,
strategic business partners, and media contacts.
As Blackbird proprietor Michael Polenske will explain to you, this development takes time and is first and foremost centered on our commitment to quality. The late summer/early fall of 2007 marked a time when we believe this commitment was further defined. It started with the further diversification of vineyard sources and the welcoming of Aaron Pott as the leader of our winemaking team. With consulting winemaker Sarah Gott, Aaron bring numerous years of winemaking experience and education from around the globe. This includes stints with Chateau Troplong-Mondot and Chateau La Tour Figeac on the right bank of Bordeaux France—the region from which Blackbird Vineyards takes its winemaking inspiration.
As part of this weblog, all of us at Blackbird look forward to sharing with you many stimulating stories about our wines and winery, but mostly we want to hear from you. This could be by posting a comment on our wines, similar to the individuals that have shared their thoughts on peer to peer websites such as Cellar Tracker or by visiting us in person at Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley. At Ma(i)sonry, one of our wine educators can lead you through a tasting of all Blackbird wines from the 2007 vintage, which will allow you to experience the subtle character of our Merlot and Cabernet Franc focused blends. Even though the percentage difference of varietals blended in each Blackbird bottle may seem minor, the nuances—from particular grape sources, deft winemaking techniques and appropriate barrel aging—will surprise even a seasoned wine enthusiast.
So join the flock of people that have experienced the Blackbird wines for almost five years now—by visiting us online or in person. No matter what, please just take the time to enjoy a glass of wine with family, friends or colleagues. You deserve it…and we look forward to hearing your stories.
